How often should cooling equipment be maintained?

How to set preventive maintenance frequency by equipment type, usage and environment.

By GreenAir team

Technician servicing equipment

The right maintenance frequency depends on the equipment, its operating hours and where it is installed. The same split unit is not maintained the same way in a Bogotá office as in a seafront store.

Factors that set the frequency

  • Operating hours: 24/7 equipment needs shorter intervals.
  • Environment: salt, dust and grease (kitchens) speed up wear.
  • Criticality: operating rooms, data rooms and cold chains cannot fail.
  • Manufacturer recommendations, which affect warranty.

A practical reference

  • Filter cleaning or replacement monthly or every two months in commercial spaces.
  • Full preventive maintenance at least quarterly or every six months, depending on criticality.
  • Chiller plants and critical equipment with more frequent routines and operating logs.

What matters: measure and record

A useful maintenance program leaves per-unit traceability: readings, findings and recommendations. With that data you can decide when to repair and when to replace.

At GreenAir we design programs per site and per unit, with reports that serve both engineering and finance teams.
